Home Remodeling
and Improvements
Do Your Own
Remodeling and Save Big!!!
Let's face it. Home remodeling and home
improvements can be an intimidating subject for those of
us who have never been exposed to
it.
One of
the fastest ways to dramatically increase the value and
visual appeal of your home is to remodel a room. Remodeling a
kitchen or bathroom is an improvement that will make the
largest increase in the value of your home, as well as
add the most in comfort level for your
family.
With some careful research and planning
it isn't all that difficult to make improvements to the
existing rooms in your home. By doing the work yourself,
or at least parts of it, could save you a considerable
amount of money. You can easily hire experts to do the
work you're not capable of, or just don't feel like
doing. As a General Contractor, one of my main duties was
to find other professionals to complete parts of our
projects. Some of which we weren't licensed to do, and
some of which we didn't have time to do. It is often less
expensive to hire professionals, since they buy materials
in big quantities, and have years of experience in
installing their products.
My goal with this site is to pass along
as much of the hard learned lessons as I can, without your
having to spend thirty plus years to learn the lessons I
have.
These projects are generally not
overly complicated, and with a bit of advice along the way,
most anyone can do it. Common sense will take you a long
way.
Even seemingly large projects,
when broken down into manageable pieces become a series of
small projects, and are considerably less
overwhelming.
"Trade secrets", aren't as secret
as they once were. All aspects of home improvements are written
about in countless books and articles, making it easy to
research and learn. Sort of an academic
apprenticeship.
Developing experience with tools
is generally more difficult than the improvement project
itself. Experience with using power tools can
only be taught by being advised as to what to be cautious
about, but the rest comes from use. There's just no way around
that.
Hopefully, this site will become your most
valuable asset in your venture into improving your
home.
